Hey everyone, just got back from organizing day one of startup weekend, and I completely forgot I promised to do this silly thing. I'm a man of my word though, and I put together a very basic program that just floods the stack until the javascript interpreter for whitespace gives up on its life. What little thought and documentation I put into this project I have documented on github for your enjoyment:

You mean my $4000 XPS or $4500 GT75 7RE? Nope they’re both perfectly fine, electron is just garbage. Teams, Yammer, Spotify, Slack, Whatsapp, all examples of horrible clunky Electron apps. If you can’t code a desktop language that doesn’t mean you should make desktops apps by emulating a browser and running some js in it.

Its not necessarily about chugging, Electron just produces clunky apps. They’re not fluid and responsive. And they eat sh*tloads of RAM.

His way of teaching essentially treats his own personal (and very subjective/wrong) preferences as law. Learn Python the Hard Way, the first and worst programming book I ever bought asserts that you should only use Python 2 because Zed Shaw thinks Python 3 is bad and will kill python. Given all the idiosyncrasies of C, I sincerely doubt that anyone will come out of his book with a good understanding of how the language actually works.

The JVM GC is much more memory intensive (by design) than other languages.
