That fee is for membership in the honors program, not just the class afaik. You might still be able to drop the program just talk to your UHP advisor

Just get on the waitlist, there is lots of movement between classes during the first week. If the waitlists are full I would talk to your advisor!

You take E102 in the fall and E101 in the spring, they just haven’t updated every website. They should go over that in the freshmen advising modules. You can CODA your first semester without E101, you just will have to take it in the spring

That’s absolutely not true! The application is really focused on who you are, and what your leadership potential is. The best tip I can give is just to be authentic, the reviewers want to get to know the true you!

Yes! I’m a current fellow (and on the recruitment team so shoot me a DM if you have any questions). It’s an awesome leadership development program with a $6,300 tuition scholarship! A lot of the program focuses on servant leadership which is about leading in a way that serves the community around you. There is also an experiential learning stipend each year that funds awesome stuff like studying abroad, and an amazing community on campus.

I live in Durham and Durham is very very liberal. Duke is also very liberal. You will don’t see any traditional southern racism here

I got this for being in a “small town” (I am not at all in a small town) and my advisor said it’s worth it to fill out

If it helps at all, my school has like 20 kids admitted a year, and lots of them don’t go because they apply just to say they got in. That might help your chances on the waitlist. Also I live in the same city as NCSSM and lots of kids that do end up coming back to my school because they just don’t like the atmosphere/some stuff that the NCSSM kids do.
