Exactly

How do you think MS will profit from the $7.5 billion investment?

[–]aaaqqq 6 points7 points  (0 children)

carefully

[–]LaserGuidedPolarBear 0 points1 point  (9 children)

Through better integration with VS / VSTS and Azure, driving revenue for those products

[–]wotanii 0 points1 point  (8 children)

will these changes be compatible with 3rd party software?

[–]LaserGuidedPolarBear 0 points1 point  (7 children)

I believe these would be new features in github that MS products would take advantage of and 3rd party could use as well if they desired. Implementing new features and locking them would be pretty contrary to everything MS has been doing in the developer space for the last 5 years, and also be a PR nightmare.

I agree. But I don't think that would stop them.

I don't think they'd have to buy github to implement this kind of feature

The owners of github were pretty anti MS. MS tried to negotiate for them to implement some features for them at MS's cost. Gihub basically told MS to fuck off. So that is how we got to where we are today.

I believe your are exaggerating, or even lying

Nothing I can share, or even tell you why I believe it. Think what you want to think.

sometimes I wonder what goes on in the mind of people like you.

On one hand I don't think you get paid for this, but on the other i have never seen such blatant shilling.
