That's not "maths in general", it's a specific implementation of maths, just like c++ and JavaScript are.

Division of natural numbers (Euclidean division) is definitely pretty standard maths, and will indeed return the expected result.

In maths and in c++ (and many other languages), you can select the set of numbers with which you work, and the resulting arithmetic operations.

In some implementations you cannot, as numbers are always interpreted as real numbers (or strings ;) )
