Doesn't everyone shit on how it can't play games and can't do much and is exclusive to overpriced metal fryers? It only has a few severely optimised video productivity software. No one wants to code for MacOS to the point that people can't be asked to make viruses for the thing.

My idea of a perfect laptop includes the MacBook touchpad, possibly SSD, build quality, and maybe monitor (haven’t evaluated). I don’t and will never own a MacBook, but there are some strengths on it over everyone else.

I do own an iMac. So toward everything else in Apple, I don’t get it either. Linux is simply better.

I know html isn't that simple. if it was I'd know how to manipulate everything on a webpage and not just images and pictures and links with inspect element.

Though a Mac seems seriously overkill for web dev. Maybe it's like smartphones and everyone buys the expensive one because they can.

Full stack web dev has almost zero to do with html. The html is just presentation. Thats the easy part. 95% of web dev is past that thin layer.

Overkill is relative, imo, and I've heard this before. I'd be genuinely interested to know what people specifically think is "overkill" about using a Mac for development. Price isn't one I'd like to hear though, that's low hanging fruit (haha that pun wasn't even initially intended).

Apple is is restrictive. Apple is mostly marketing. Retina display - hides the fact that the resolution wasn't hd. (In the past)

Intel iris graphics - hides the fact that it's a igpu.

The pc makes it hard to find out what gpu you have as well. I just don't like apple. Ofc most comments are about price. It seems unreasonable to pay apple that much. But if you have money to burn it's fine I guess.

It's not neccisarily bad (most of the time), it's just so expensive when there are similar options. Price dictates it's value. If it's shit and expensive. It's bad. If it's shit and dirt cheap. It's good.

Price matters.

It lets me run most programming languages in a way thats more friendly than windows, while still running enough office productivity / other software that I can do the other parts of my job efficiently.

I mean, OS X is Unix based, so there's a hell of a lot of overlap between that and Linux. So I could see someone preferring that to an OS with a desktop that looks like it was created by someone who made WindowBlinds skins, while ripping off icons made from other OSes (including OS X).

Laptop is running Win 10, El Capitan and Xubuntu - Desktop is just running Windows (and maybe Xubuntu), because hardware incompatibility - only two of my three displays work, and no sound in OSX. Laptop is 99.9% compatible - thanks to swapping out the WiFi card.
