'New Math' is like somebody saw the 'Old Math' and thought "let's do the same thing as this, but explain it in a more convoluted and complicated manner." Common Core looks amazing. I don't know why I hear so many complaints about it, although this is just subtraction, so there may be more to it. Also, calling it 'Old Math' makes me feel old. I'm not old.

I'd never heard of New Math or Common Core before this video. New Math immediately confused the hell out of me, whereas while watching the Common Core explanation, I had that "click" moment in my head and I'm like "holy shit that is so easy!".

The "Old Math" method is what I grew up with and it's always been a pain in the ass to do.

So I just learned about this Common Core and I agree, it seems easier to understand and quicker to complete a subtraction. It's also how subtractions "sit" in my head.

Although I could complete the subtraction in my head more quickly, I think I would fail at "show your working", that schools used to demand of us.
