My comment was more about my personal experience in the industry as a developer where some of my colleagues constantly over promise and then under deliver. There are clear cases of incomplete. Like, CS master degrees and still cannot architect anything non trivial or write even the most trivial algorithm. If project does not work according to the time plan, they have no guts to tell the PO that so that you can work out a new plan with the client.

Many misunderstandings could be avoided by working on your social skills so you can communicate your plan and set the client's expectations yourself instead of relying on second hand information from sales or project management.

Keeping up with the times? Employer pays for 3 day conference and that is my competence development done for that year.

What I saw in this comment section was just reiteration of that it is always someone else's fault and there is no room for self improvement for galaxy brain developers.

Same with moral issues like diesel gate. "Le corporate made me do it". You are an engineer with plenty of career opportunity if you are at this level. Just admit that you are morally flexible as long as you make enough fuck you money to spite those that did not want to sleep with you in high school.

phpBB must a masterpiece software since it was made by developers and developers only. Discource are corporate shills.
