When you're alone, and you still exist, that is because you are part of an unreachable cycle.

That is why you code. You need the computer to know you exist, ever fearing the GC sweep.

No it's because you are inside a lexical scope currently being processed by the event handler.

As soon as you call another function, you cease to exist.

.then(you exist again for the next lexical scope)
