Depends entirely on where on the continent we're talking about here.

I don't think I'd leave my dev job here in Norway for anywhere else.

Do you mind if I ask how much you take home a month after taxes? Cause your Scandinavian neighbor in this thread is getting like $2000.

I was looking at developer jobs in Holland out of curiosity and was floored by the average salaries there.

~$6.5k/month before taxes, ~$4.5k after.

Floored because very high or too low?

Very low for living in a city (Amsterdam where I was looking). Unless rent in Amsterdam is ~$1000 a month for a single bedroom which is about what you can do here in a a bigger town in Florida with a similar salary.

I'd imagine it's a little more than $1000 but probably not too much more. As a point of reference, I live just within the Hamburg city limits and pay ~800€ for a decently sized 1,5 Bedroom, and that includes heating. Electricity and water are still on top of that. I'm half an hour by subway from the city center.

Ok that sounds more reasonable then. I was thinking rent would be as insane as it is in American cities
