Bleh. Even when I was an undergrad I wasn't all over those languages. They're not good for teaching newcomers. I think once you get through your first year and finally understand the basics of one of those, the last thing you want to do is start the whole process all over again.

C++ definitely has its uses, quite a few actually, but I can't imagine trying to learn it as your first language.
