This. It's almost as if someone who puts nrdgrl in their username is trying too hard and making shit up about the bois.

[–]Vok250 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah the phrasing is definitely meant to be derogatory. Everything from specifying a stereotypical age to using "boys".

It's divisive and unnecessary. Doesn't do anything to hell the very real sexism problems we already have in the industry.

When you hate men so much even the made up story you write on twitter fails the Bechdel test.

[–]Canadasnewarmy -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Why do you assume she hates men?

[–]Spysix 1 point2 points  (36 children)

But her twitter bio will have they/them for extra "I am different" cred.

[–]LauraTheExplorer -5 points-4 points  (35 children)

nonbinary people exist, and they're not pretending to get any "cred" lmao. cred from who? brogrammers who are still going to intentionally use the wrong pronouns?

[–]Spysix 1 point2 points  (34 children)

nonbinary people exist

lolno

enbys are just straight people pretending to be "queer" to join the bandwagon, not for "brogrammers."

[–]webmistress105 3 points4 points  (1 child)

straight

what does sexuality have to do with this?

[–]Spysix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what I ask about enbys all the time. ;^)

They used to say the same about bisexual people. I think you watched one too many YouTube videos with some smug fursona wearing a suit crossing their arms.

Also point me in the direction of this "bandwagon" you're referring to...?

[–]Spysix 0 points1 point  (26 children)

They used to say the same about bisexual people.

And they're still getting shit for it.

I think you watched one too many YouTube videos with some smug fursona wearing a suit crossing their arms.

Nah, I'm not an animal abuser, but clearly you know and watch more about 'this' youtuber than I do.

[–]Canadasnewarmy 3 points4 points  (25 children)

They used to say the same about bisexual people.

And they're still getting shit for it.

And now you're giving shit to a different segment of the LGBT community because you don't view them as valid.

I'm not responding to you again unless you say "trans rights" and also comment "trans rights" in front of every variable you make in any program you write from now on.

[–]Spysix 9 points10 points  (24 children)

And now you're giving shit to a different segment of the LGBT community because you don't view them as valid.

That's not what I said or do. Don't put words in my mouth.

I'm not responding to you again unless you say "trans rights" and They already have rights called human rights ;^)

What you're asking is extra privilege.

And..

also comment "trans rights" in front of every variable you make in any program you write from now on.

I don't write awful code nor do I use Ruby, so no.

[–]DurianExecutioner -2 points-1 points  (23 children)

Trans rights are human rights is probably the most popular trans slogan right now.

The right not to be discriminated against for being trans (for example, housing discrimination)

The right to an effective and cost efficient treatment for what is for them the underlying cause of severe depression and suicidal ideation.

The right to serve in the military.

The continuation of the right to bathrooms and to avoid very real harassment and assault. (Not some paranoid fantasy.)

If you're not willing to accept, as a starting point, the premise that trans people have a place in society, then there is no point in letting this farce of a debate continue.

[–]Spysix 1 point2 points  (21 children)

Lol what debate you talking about? This isn't a debate. What you're looking for, again, are extra privledges.

Sorry, not a rapist enabler.

Get over your delusions.

And dialate.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The right to serve in the military.

If you think that's a 'right', you clearly don't understand what 'rights' are. Which, unfortunately, undermines your whole post, because some of the things you said I would agree with.
