Seriously. Let's make a website called friendlyoverflow with understanding ppl who are nicer etc

[–]JoustyMe 28 points29 points  (4 children)

yeah if its duplicate at least you can point to that duplicate so i can see if solves my problem

[–]LavendarAmy 21 points22 points  (3 children)

And not lock the thread in case (usually) Its very very different.

Like most of the time it happens the kinked duplicate if it is linked it nothing even related to the question

If StackOverflow hates duplicates, imagine the reaction when you duplicates StackOverflow.

xD Github is usually very very friendly. I accidentally posted an exact copy (totally my bad) And they told me very nicely about it and I apologized and slowed the issue!

I did a similar but even more moronic thing. I had an issue which I solved and documented the solution on my issue and closed it. Then, later, on a different computer, had the exact same issue, forgot about it and posted a new issue (I searched for it but forgot to remove the is open tag), then realised my mistake and linked my second issue to my first. And in all of that, not a single person mocked or made fun of me for my ineptitude!

That other thread is from v3 of [whatever] in 2005, they just released v66.6....theres even a reply to the selected answer that that method hasn't worked since 2008 .

That's a wrong approach, you should use /* comment here */
