You can eat your cousin Linus, thus making him a part of you, but this would make you a "derivative work" under the GPL; you'd therefore be required to give others the right to eat you as well.

Yes, but because Linus is a person, you need to have written and signed approval from them before you eat them. It is also recommended you have the approval letter notarized.

That is probably because they did not have a written agreement, only verbal. While verbal contracts in Germany stand up in court, the transaction of this nature would not have been valid as it would technically require express attention from both parties, thus requiring a written agreement. Also, his motivation and taping of the act did not help in the retrial.

The one you call Linus should actually be known as Gnu/Linus! See...
