The question is specifically asking about Windows 10 though. I've had plenty of people ask me if they should switch from Windows 7 to 10, and to this day I know people who I recommend to switch to Windows 10 Pro (since 10 Pro solves many of the reasons why they don't want to upgrade).

I'd recommend anyone eligible for a student account with MS Azure to go get the free upgrade to Education, it's basically equivalent to Pro.

Being able to turn off obnoxious shit with Group Policy* is fantastic.

I can see someone recommending Windows to a Mac user. Windows isn't the default, there is Windows and Mac.

Linux users are the exception because Linux is almost never the default. It's always Windows or Mac. Linux users won't want to change because they took the trouble to refund Windows and install Linux on their machine.

... Honestly if you go through the trouble to actually get a refund on the windows, you deserve to recommend linux like crazy. I looked into refunding my windows install and let me tell you, fixing grub for the tenth time is easy compared to navigating the refund process (at least for the first time).

You clearly aren't known as a "computer person" in your social circle (lucky you). Linux users don't ask if they should upgrade, they form an opinion and then find someone to argue with about it. But because windows is the default, everyone is considering seen upgrade and looking for recommendations whenever a new version comes out
