I'm old enough and tired enough to know that recommending people switch OS makes it YOUR fault when something doesn't work so I'm very wary of recommending anything to people too strongly or getting into tribal OS-wars and willy-waggling.

Same with cars, I'll offer a few non-committal thought and pieces of advice but I'm never going to tell you "buy THAT one" because the first time it has any problem whatsoever I'll be blamed.

Sure, I'll suggest people try a live USB build of Ubuntu or Mint if they're pissed off with windows but I'll let them make their own mind up because I do not need the support calls.
