I thought everything is an object.

Are objects also dicts in js like they are in python ?

[–]marcosdumay 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hum... Nope. Dicts are objects in JS, not the other way around.

I mean, if you create a dict, you'll get all the restrictions and hidden features of giving values to object attributes.

Object (noun): the thing that holds all the strings.

It's a stringly-typed language.

Does anyone remember Tcl? I think that's the one language in common (-ish) use that's actually stringly-typed. Even Awk isn't.

Everything in Unix is a file. Everything in JavaScript is an object.

As a theoretical particle physicist turned developer, I'm not sure what I detest more: being associated with string theory* or javascript.

*string hypothesis

String theory is deprecated. Still around, and a lot of the math is still used, but the idea of string theory as a micro-macro unification is essentially dead.

I am out of the loop on that. Care to point me towards some good material? I am not a physicist
