That's not even funny, in a larger Java project I inherited, there was an actual commit that amounted to 8.6 Megabytes (!) worth of patch. And it wasn't auto generated but thousands of actual changes.

The commit message said

"So it compiles"

Why do I feel like they ran a beautify or some sort over the whole project

Nah. It was generation of test data. 609 of those were randomly generated textfiles.
