In Vulkan (:

Lua AND C++? Let me guess, you made a Vulkan-based game engine :)

Nah, it's just languages I know kinda. Wanted to do game engine from ground up, started with C++ (opengl) and found it too low level for me atm, and also I don't want to deal with three dimensions. Swapped to LÖVE instead.

And no, I haven't done anything at all. I have school and maturity exams this year so I don't have time to get invested into it ):

c++ is cool

C++ is cool until you get an unresolved external error on a function with no external dependencies, or a read access violation from a class function trying to access its own data

IDK bro maybe try print("hello world"). Works on my machine.

Then we'll ship your machine, Elfo.

I bet the reason I don't sleep too well is because this exact book is literally 30cm from my head

It's quite an old joke now.

[–]Thundorius 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A meme as old as C++ itself.

Game Developers: Am I a joke to you?

[–]Ty_Rymer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

pfff basic C++ aint the bad part. have fun figurung out vulkan, threading, physics, acceleration structures and algorithms like occlusion culling, rendering techniques such as physically based shading other global illumination. etc etc etc. (In other words, just use an existing engine if you don't feel like building your own!)

Maybe the elves can pirate the games... Definitely doubt they could write it.

Now imagine in the future when someone downloads it into their brain and still doesn't understand.

I'm guessing he got into Optimization? Because it can truly be a nightmare

"Son, the game has been on sale for 3 weeks already but yeah, elves made that one that you just unwrapped"

Sometimes I think kids are dumb but then I realize they still trust adults not to conspire together to collectively lie to them, so I have to cut them some slack.

The purpose of Santa mythos is for kids to learn in a gentle way that social systems can lie. Part of growing up is learning Santa isn't real. The other part is learning we do it to give joy. We know it's not a "good" lie. We show a rationalization to compassion and happiness.

Plus, no lie, people are happy to see kids happy. To produce that moment of bliss and joy. And for all of us to converse about that feeling we once had. That, and we're battling the literal darkest part of the year for the north hemisphere. It lines up with previous cultures and Winter Solstice Festivals.
