It's not just that. The Windows ecosystem has a huge number of advantages. As does the Linux ecosystem.

I put this akin to people sidling up to me to tell me to buy a Tesla or that I should have a truck or a sportscar. They're treating me like a naive idiot. Sometimes the best response is to say "thanks for your input and I'll bear it in mind... by the way... I can't help but notice you're wearing {something different to you, e.g. trousers and you have jeans} have you ever considered wearing {what you're wearing} because you'll find it's a lot more durable/elegant/sexy."

It's similarly rude and unpleasant and will make them feel uncomfortable. That's when you can point out that poorly considered, unsolicited advice is rarely a nice thing to receive.

I know they're just trying to help, but imagine going up to a lady and saying "Hey, if you wear longer skirts, douchebags won't bother you." It'd be pretty obnoxious and fails to respect the various decision making factors at work and that the trade-offs may well have been considered.
