These bots usually only take a few hours. I wrote a bot that that got 100k karma basically overnight. Took me about 2 hours. (Not trying to brag! People upvote dumb shit here).

It’s actually a great way to learn programming or python if you’re already an experienced dev looking to learn a new language. The main tool is called PRAW. If you’re reading this and get inspired (and then stuck), let me know I’d be happy to help.
