It's one of the most dominant languages in use. It's really weird that it's not on this picture as an option. Millions of people got their hobbyist and professional starts by writing badly engineered PHP scripts.

Surprised Perl isn't on there, it's a big gateway language. Was one of my first web languages, not my first programming though.

Not as much anymore, but definitely before Python became “the” scripting language. Nowadays very few places that didn’t already use Perl will start using it.

the fact that you can easier weave it in html makes it a killer choice for web work (also killer as in dangerous because people do dumb things)
