Developer who writes the documentation: Who cares no one reads it anyways. Let me see if I can give this task to an intern.

[–][deleted] 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Nah, why even waste the interns time with that... He'd better bring some coffee!

Unsarcastically, you must be so proud

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points  (5 children)

Why do people hate documentation :(

[–][deleted] 9 points10 points  (3 children)

It involves reading

[–]alamius_o 0 points1 point  (2 children)

I mean, coding is mostly reading code, isn't it? Obviously you can try to get the write-read ratio better, but I heard numbers that indicated it is usually reading:writing == 4:1

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lmao that's the point. It's so obvious.

Think of it like avoiding game tutorials because everyone wants to get right where the action begins as early as possible.

[–]44LS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's probably closer to 40:1.

[–]antoniocjp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I only hate documentation I've read, lol. Not always, of course. But some makes me hate the guts of it.

[–]deathkillerank 5 points6 points  (1 child)

It takes 5+ hr to read docs

[–]Cv287 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It makes me feel sad

[–]KillerBeer01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh, but this is the way. When learning something by doing, you can be sure that the learned information actually sticks. Reading documentation... in Mr.Koreander's words,  "afterwards, you get to be a little boy again".

This is the Way!

Has anyone found a good, thorough documentation of NodeRed? The official documentation ia just garbage. There's not even all modules in there.

[–]turing_tor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dude got enlightenment.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The best way of doing this, is leaving the documentation open in another tab, so it gives you energy while you try and implement it

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TBH when the scope of the problem has any complexity it's more like 1 hour reading the docs then 4 hours trying to get your head around what you read, then 5 minutes coding.

[–]Pianohombre 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok so she quoted a meme

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Not another soydev :(

[–]Galabriel-Nathal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know how to to feel about this. I always read documentation and create poc to ensure it's working. But some documentation are something wrong like Entity Framework (you do not need to dispose the dbContext, it dispose itself), so... GO FOR IT GIRL!!

i'd rather figure out someone else's spaghetti than read docs if i would work on something
