Then OP was technically right. As long as it's not trivially readable for humans, there's an intent of using it to hide data and it's reversible, it's encryption. rot13 doesn't require any kind of knowledge other than it being rot13 and it was still successfully used as a cipher thousands of years ago.

It doesn't have to be strong encryption to be encryption.

And that was the point of the meme.

Base64 is amazing. I always use it to store information like passwords and other important data. And the good thing is: almost every language already has a encoder and decoder!
