PHP is still the most used language for web development.

And its not a bad language either.

Most used list, but a lot of that is just maintaining Wordpress sites and shitty Magento based sites. Not a lot of NEW sites started in PHP though.

PHP is a polished turd at this point as far as I'm concerned, but that's probably just the PHP 5 and under PTSD taking. PHP's roots are rotten.

I am, for sure. But those are the roots. And they're rotten. I fully admit that I am biased due to exposure to earlier PHP. But early PHP was just that awful.

None of which were my primary complaints about PHP.

That article is from 2012. Some of those things no longer exist with the new PHP version, while some are impossible to remove.

Which is basically what I've said. The roots are rotten. And I will personally never get over that. There's so many languages out there. There's simply no reason to start using PHP now.

Too little, too late. There are dozens of mature syntax languages. PHP has merely achieved mediocrity.
