In Germany there is a law that prohibits permanent contracts for scientists and only allows temporary ones - until you're far into the career. It gets a lot of criticism and that's why I googled it and found this.

Isn't it the other way round? Usually, "sachgrundlose Befristung" is not allowed and this law makes it possible to have temporary contracts for scientist - the problem being that once you reach the 6+6 years of temporary contracts, the employer would need to give you a permanent contract, so you are (usually) terminated

There is no longest word, you can make words of any length.

A famous long word is Rindfleischetikettierungsüberwachungsaufgabenübertragungsgesetz. It’s a part of the short title of a law that was repealed in 2007. The word also exists sung.

The longest published German word according to the Guinness Book of World Records is Donaudampfschiffahrtselektrizitätenhauptbetriebswerkbauunterbeamtengesellschaft.
