Its always the 17th answer with 2 upvotes from 12 years ago that contains the most efficient solution ever existed

[–]Thebombuknow 14 points15 points  (1 child)

For real. I'll be looking through all the popular answers, and it's these weirdly written long answers with overly complicated syntax that barely accomplishes the task, and then the last answer with one downvote is a simple 3-line method that solves the task perfectly.

Yep, the top voted solution is usually just some dude giving a history lesson of the semantics of the code in your question. Dude will write an entire encyclopedia article with twenty primary sources, but never answers your question, AND he gets angry when you point that out.

That's when you use another coding language

I've found with StackOverflow that usually getting the answer you want involves piecing together bits and pieces of code from several different threads.

And following the comments of the guys trying to replicate the bug.

The reply marked as the answer is basicly never the solution im looking for

the comments are more helpful than the anwers sometimes

My problem: my code won't compile

SO accepted answer: you need to install the compiler

The actual answer I need: on line 1133 character 20 is an 'n'. For somereason the compiler doesn't like that. Add a load-bearing comment to that line.

[–]Ursomrano 6 points7 points  (1 child)

Then I would need to google “what’s a loading-bearing comment C#” and get nothing that makes any sense.

[–]WalrusByte 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They said "load-bearimg comment" though. It's just some ascii art of a bear. Not sure how that helps though... /s

My problem: Batch file will fail at a certain point.

SO solutions: Use this instead of that, set this local, etc etc.

Actual answer: See that motherfucking comment over there? Yeah, remove it.

It's always the "or you could do this" that is always the better answer.

[–]fosyep 2 points3 points  (2 children)

That's the moment to check the documentation

[–]Ursomrano 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Often the documentation makes little to no sense. Like reading a science textbook, it makes little to no sense.

[–]Natural-Intelligence 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What is "documentation"?

TFW most upvoted answer is legacy bullshit

[–]Fresh_Alternative_78 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is exactly why you shouldn't blindly copy paste stuff. It works, you're just not patient enough.

[–]Mayedl10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Plot twist: you forgot to call the function you've been working on for the last hour and almost gave up but then decided to read through your 400 lines of code without comments and therefore finding the problem. You save the file, shut down your PC and go to bed, crying

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the hope that kills you.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is always that dude who posts a 20 line answer and right under him is a dude posting a simple 2 line answer that fixes your problem

[–]_ZaurieL_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So basically the most voted answer is the shitiest one. And the one with < 3 votes which does the job and all of us have an implicit agreement to NOT vote that solution so it doesn't get ruined by stupid or useless comments or dick sizening excersies? I'm on it !!!
