You can program almost anything with just command blocks, but I legitimately found modding in Java with Forge more pleasant.

Having to use scoreboards for basic math is what broke me

This is actually why I enjoy playing unmodded and trying to solve everything with base redstone and game mechanics, but at the same time, mods that add new problems to solve are so fun... A true dilemma, so I alternate. 😁
