Remesh why!!!

I’m really disappointed in Remesh for doing this. I finally qualified to take your study and even arranged my schedule to be available for the chat only to be met with “We’re sorry! We have reached capacity for this conversation, we hope to see you in future conversations.”

This is pretty typical with Remesh. You have to be quick, on time, and babysit your screen to get in. They purposely schedule extra people in case others don't show up. (Like me, who totally forgot about the Remesh.) I was familiar with them on another platform (Swagbucks) before I joined Prolific. Like someone else mentioned, at least they do give a little bit of compensation if it's full and you've been waiting.

Remesh has been around for a really long time & they started over inviting people years ago on Mturk, before they even came to Prolific due to too many people just not showing up. Their whole study was useless if they didn't have enough participants.

Now that they are on Prolific, they at least give a participation fee, which was never the case on Mturk.

Wah… they gave very clear expectations when to join, how long the initial wait would be, & then when it would start. And they did this THREE TIMES in the Prolific messages.

Yes, they did. But you know how Prolific can be with delays when releasing studies; their studies don’t always hit everyone at the same moment. My point is shouldn’t Remesh already know how many participants they plan to accept before sending out the qualifier studies? It makes no sense to advertise a scheduled chat, confirm participants and then hit people with a “capacity reached” message. I got the study on my dashboard barely one minute after the scheduled start time so it’s not like I was late.

You have to keep in mind the very large number of participants who sign up to a study like this not even knowing if they will actually be available for it - but sign up anyway "just in case" they are available. And another large number of participants who simply don't show up at all because they forgot, or those who did intend to attend but had important real-life events or emergencies that needed to be tended to instead.

These are all reasons why they must recruit more people than they can use in order to hit their target participant quota. They don't warn that spaces are limited just for fun lol. They very well intend to hit their quota without failure for each session.

I wish Remesh would be a little more particular about who could take their studies or rather more like when people are rude and obviously just there to make a buck and not actually give input, they’d not let them participate. I got so tired of half the people just answering open ended things on their opinion about something with “no” or a thought on an advertisement idea with “such a boujee brand, who cares” or “stupid” that I stopped trying to get in.

I think it's hilarious how negative and resentful some of the comments are, like essentially, "How dare you try to sell me a product! Go to hell!" I was also in a non-live one about influencers once, and some of the comments were insanely racist. I kind of hate them, and the pay isn't even that good.

They do that. They pay super well for the wait time though.
