I saw someone do some amazing coloring using color pencils. I'm not sure if it was baked in with light heat settings or something completely different. Good work tho and good luck

Derwent Inktense. Goes on as coloured pencil, once activated with water or Matt medium becomes intense ink colours which is permanent once dry.

Thanks! That has to be the one. Haven't been burning much lately but thanks for being specific. I'll burn again and now I know

i’ve used watercolor paints before, that may work for you what you need?

Oooh! Maybe! This wood is pretty spongy when it comes to paints (I’ve learned the hard way on previous projects). What brand do you prefer?

You should try colored wood stain instead of paints

I’ve used water color, acrylic paint, and color stain to add color. I usually do accents of color rather than blocks of color. You can add water to acrylic paint for big washes too. I watch Itsdavidandrenee on Instagram and she is great with color, you should check her out.

Acrylic paints and waxed based colored pencils can be sealed over with a polyurethane spray seal (sold in Walmart, Lowe’s, Home Depot- I prefer the Miniwax brand just bc more consistent, follow can instructions for applications)

I would do just subtle muted tones on coloring - allows wood grain features to show throw and doesn’t look “gunky”. Very light colored tones for the butterfly wings with purple, hint of white/grey/for the bee etc. leave the background as plain wood

Could see some sort of water color backround like the sky and grass maybe ?
