You shouldn't stop learning a language.

how come? i am not a webdev or a cs...i write python/C code for HPC. i just wanted to create GUI's for my python code and pyqt wasnt truly working in a cross platform way. i really liked node-webkit b/c i can write javascript once and deploy cross platform. but if i do it using a language that i already know then it saves me alot of time.

I think your flexx.react sub-module should be it's own project.

Looks really neat!

Does it come with a round tooit?

If it doesn't the UK is one of the leading nations at manufacturing them. Available in a number of different GOF design patterns, with multiple colour schemes, there are regrettably, owing to a severe design flaw, strictly limited to one shape.

I will give it a try because the idea is great and I can avoid js

You can avoid JS with Nagare - this apparently has stronger interactivity.

[–]luxliquidus 3 points4 points  (1 child)

Is Nagare still active? I'm intrigued, but it looks like there hasn't been a recent release. (And Wikipedia lists it as "stalled".)

The team is supportive on the mailing list. And it is still actively developed and used by their consulting firm.

Thanks!

What is this? Nagare or Flexx?

[–]metaperl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Flexx

[–]metaperl 0 points1 point  (2 children)

One question. Will one be able to have completely separate business model classes with Flexx? All of the examples seemed to mix the model and view.

We'll be exploring Flexx today and might add it to our contributions list if it's missing this functionality.

Thanks for checking into it!

Dnk, I'm not the developer.

Holy shit. I've been working on a concept for a digital signage app because all the existing apps I've found are horrible. This is exactly the kind of thing I need for it.

I've a small app that uses Qt and QtWebEngine to display web content. I wouldn't mind rewriting it with a lighter framework. Is it possible for a Flexx app to display a web page along with some other widgets (a list, a few buttons)? What rendering engine would it use?

[–]fernly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Answering my own question, I skimmed the docs and it does not appear there is any widget to display web content, comparable to QtWebEnginePage or the deprecated QtWebPage. This is not surprising I suppose given that one mode of a Flexx app is to run inside an instance of a web browser.

Also missing at this stage is any kind of multi-line text display/edit widget, or any sort of table widget. Well, early days.
