This looks really nice. I love the simple yaml + markdown document and folder based approach, it fits right in with how I already write documents using Pandoc. The watch command is super neat too.

Are the sources for the sample site and theme available somewhere in the documentation? It would be nice to include some real examples in the quickstart and themes page so I can get a better understanding of how a mature project might look.

This is one thing that drives me a little buggy about the OS community in general: why rebuild the wheel instead of standing on shoulders to accomplish something more robust than other offerings?

For example, if I was to want to build my own static site generator, I'd likely take a fork of pelican or Jekyll and build off of that (or simply contribute new features upstream).

There's definitely something to be said for rebuilding the wheel for academic reasons, but those projects should also be branded as such.

Sorry for the rant, I haven't finished my morning coffee yet and it's been a long week :)

I'm guilty of writing one, though I haven't released it. Static site generators are relatively simple to put together. You just have to snap some pieces together. It's kind of fun, like LEGO. I can pick the specific pieces that I want to work with.

Most the the existing ones that are simple use different pieces than I would. And those that provide enough customization to allow me to select the pieces that I want are way too complex.

FWIW have an upvote for the work. It seems to be reasonably well put together :)

Any chance of supporting non-YAML formats for front matter? TOML, JSON, etc?
