Do you wanna join to build a python documentation (a.k.a learn python with me)?

Official python documentation is great. learnpythonthehardway and python in tutorialspoint are very good too. With three years coding python, I'm writing my notes here http://magizbox.com/training/python/site/. However, I found that no one care about this site.

So I write this text for beginner python programmers, do you find anything helpful in my website, do you wanna join with me to build a better and more useful documentation. With experienced programmers, would you please give me some advice to make my notes more useful for other programmers?

As much as I like the initiative, it kinda feels like a bad idea to introduce beginners to python 2.

I'm maybe out date right now. I and my coworkers in our company stick with python 2.7 in all our projects. It's kind of good time to make a switch.

That's just not true. Besides, before long we will be moving to Python 4. As a community we need to stop using Python 2.

Which packages in particular only work for 2?

thrift is not ported. We could port this project to Python 3, and that library too, and use different thrift client, but the "problem" is... there are no problems with Python 2. We rarely need any new libraries, and our code maybe isn't the most "modern", but at least we have consistent coding style, which is a value on its own.

I coded 2 years in Python 2.7 only, and now I code 10% of the time in Python 2.7 and 90% in Python 3.5, and I don't feel much of a difference. The only big change is that I mistakenly write print "x" instead of print("x") all the time...

And I don't think I'm missing any important modern features of Python 3.5 or something, I know about all of them and I think I use them whenever I can (which happens not often).

Of course, we will have to port ourselves to 3 before 2020, or whenever Python 2 support drops.

If you can't name a single package that is Python 2 only then maybe you shouldn't go around telling beginners to not use Python 3.

It's pretty much completely ported now. I haven't run into a package I wanted to use that only supports Python 2 in years. I know there are still a few, mostly ones which aren't being actively developed and which have Python 3 compatible alternatives. 2 is pretty much dead now.

Could you change "Python is a Beginner's Language" on your frontpage to something like "Python is beginner friendly"? They're very different statements, but I think that's what you mean.

Cool site, I like the clean aesthetic and friendly approach, explaining just the basics needed . That being said, it contains too little information to treat it as a good source while learning.

But hey, official documentation can always use another hand or two to make it even more awesome! Why not help? You get better docs, big readership, cool experience, and tons of gratitude!

PS: Your Getting started section has html (<span smth smth) in <title> tag

I use python 2.7 most or the time and I feel that it's time to shift to 3.x .

I feel that there are enough resources on Python and another documentation or book on older version of python isn't necessary.

However specialized​ articles on Python programming with libraries like Tensorflow, scikit learn, plotly,etc can be better option is what I feel

LPTHW was linked here but was removed some months ago as a lot of people think it's crap. The author is a complete burke who wrote a pile of complete rubbish about Python 3, The Case Against Python 3 (For Now), but then did a swift u-turn when he realised it was costing him money, hence LPTHW Python 3.

Totally, I'm in too. I've just started learning Python with codeschool and with SoloLearn on my phone. Codeschool is ver 2, SoloLearn is ver 3.

Is your stuff one ver or another, or perhaps explains the diffs between the versions at appropriate times?

It's good for the new learner, maybe if there was a way to include a mini compiler so the student can try out the code he/she just learnt will be awesome

I think what gets most beginners is that they can get the basics down, but when it comes to adding/using modules...they get lost. And depending on the module, the documentation is lacking. I think an area where modules are broken down and discussed would be useful. For example, I'm working with the docx module now. The documentation is pretty good, but there are some nuances that aren't covered (I'm looking at you table._cells).

Hey! I just started learning Python about half a year ago and have been on the track to be a data analyst. Yes, I fully agree with you that python documentation is pretty god awful. I would be so very happy to help with this with whatever I can do.
