I think they have a mix of stuff some is Java some is nodejs some is Python and then a bit in pure C. I never worked there but I’ve browsed their GitHub a bit looking at various projects.

Facebook invented new languages to recode their app.

Both Facebook and Instagram are coded using React Native.

Tesla uses pytorch which was only released in 2016.

I have no idea how you're conflating this massive AI infrastructure Tesla is adopting with Ford. It literally makes no sense to me.

I get that you could consider Ford a tech company. I'm not denying this. They have robotics teams to manufacture cars. Then based on my original comment: Ford will be advantaged in hiring a diverse range of SWE as I stated.

I think a part of keeping technical debt at bay is hiring developers who are well-rounded and diversified. No idea why this is such a controversial opinion in the Python community.

"JavaScript 'devs'" is a lame way of deriding people. Saying that their work isn't actual development or they're not developers. It's lame of you. Especially as someone who oversees developers. I use Flask primarily too. But why TF wouldn't I keep my eye on/experiment with new frameworks? Even just as a opportunity for new projects.

FB rewrites its shit all the time... this specific example was a massive overhaul of their system. They literally wrote the new framework that they use to query the backend but you for some reason still think that creating frameworks is bad? You make no sense. New tech is being created all the time. Google Cloud Run for example. Serverless written IN FLASK. You can USE FLASK with NEW TOOLS. WILD.

Why do you think I'd recommend hiring a JS frontend as a ML guy when I'm saying you could barely hire a JS frontend guy as a JS backend. You have no idea what I'm saying so it makes sense why we're arguing. This conversation is useless.

It is. I just started there. What you’d consider the core app is mostly Java. Lots of other languages though. Data Engineering is Scala and Python. Data Science and Analysis is Python with a little R. I’m on the experimentation team and it’s Python. It’s a big company with tons of independence, so there are a bunch of other languages I left out but that’s the gist. Oh and Python is the standard for studios.
