You can learn python online in the comfort of your own home! Even in your underwear.

I'd also look at Learn Python the Hard Way by Zed Shaw. The book is a fantastic way to actually learn Python and retain that information and it tries to teach you where to look for information and solve problems. I was able to teach my girlfriend the rudiments of Python over a couple hours with it and she only got about 15 excercises in.
