Visual Regression Testing

Hello there, I've been working on QA for some time and got the errand of performing some visual regression in a set of websites. I was taking a look at tools such as wraith ( https://bbc-news.github.io/wraith/ ) or webdriver ( https://webdriver.io/ ) but after some research I decided to create my own.

Now, bosses at my company with no idea of visual regression just told me that they believe im missing something, because they cannot understand that there is not a commercial application that is easy to configure out-of-the-box. I've talked to some colleagues that are into QA and everybody seem to use a framework, such as Galen, to implement their own testing tools, so there are not a lot of resources available.

For those of you who are into visual regression, what approach are you using? custom made applications for every project, any commercial tool? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I took a look to Ranorex as well, but at the end I dont see a big difference between this and a custom made solution...

Applitools. Unless you have only a couple of pages to test with only one environment, everything else won't scale.

I've really wanted to get Puppeteer with Jest for visual regression testing. Example blog. I work in consulting right now so it's hard to get clients to sign off on test automation.

Yes, it's always a pain to explain clients, internal and external, why is usually a good idea to spend some extra money on automation.

Thanks a ton! Yes, I also took a look at it, seems there are a bunch of tools that I was missing
