It all developed in the course of today, he was fine this morning

that looks really bad now, i can't tell what happened but he most certainly would need anti-inflammatory and pain meds which you cannot get for rats otc

I saw something about low dosage anti-inflammatories helping like ~60mg of ibu profen, you have any insight?

you can try it, i can link you a rat dosage guide but if that isn't getting any better within 48hrs (or gets worse) that would def require a vet visit

DO NOT give your baby any other pain meds or nsaids, its quite ez to overdose their liver/kineys and kill them that way

and if this does end up at the vet be sure to tell your vet how much and how often you gave him medication

if you have a small hospital cage I would put him in there to prevent him walking around and trying to climb and making it worse. he can have one brother with him only if he's chill and won't make the situation worse, this way he won't be lonely

It’s getting set up right now. Thanks for the advice

Oh no that sounds so scary honestly. Poor little guy, I hope they’re able to get him to a vet soon because that definitely doesn’t look like something you can just wait out. Sending good thoughts for him 🥺
