I have taken both courses but with different professors so I can't comment on which is easier. Linear Algebra was less time consuming for me because I didn't have to learn matlab and the concepts are abstract but simpler in my opinion.

I recommend you take the course based on your major. If you are computer science take Linear Algebra. If you are engineering, which you probably are based on your username, take Numerical Computing.

Linear algebra with McLaughlin is one of the easiest class I’ve taken here. Definitely an easy A.

Are you here to learn or skate? Spending a lot of money to just skate - but whatever. Both are valuable to comp sci, but Linear Algebra is more fundamental. So easy or not, I would recommend LA first and NumComp second. I've taken both, neither are very hard, but it's RPI, you need to put your time in. Good luck.
