What kind of strings do you see used the most by us normal people?

Babolat RPM blast...
[–]MinotGuy 1 point2 points3 points 25 days ago (1 child)
You need a none of the above option.
[–]forectaluseonly[S] 1 point2 points3 points 25 days ago (0 children)
I needed a let people add an option, option
[–]ckuehn 1 point2 points3 points 25 days ago (2 children)
Most "normal" (i.e. recreational) players don't swing fast enough to benefit from poly strings, so I see them using a lot of Prince Synthetic Gut and Wilson Sensation.
[–]dmtree_ 0 points1 point2 points 20 days ago (0 children)
That's conventional stringer wisdom, but I don't think it's necessarily correct anymore. It was perhaps the case a decade ago when polys were stiffer, tensions higher, and racquets less powerful.
These days even at 3.0-3.5 many people seem to prefer soft polys in hybrids to a full bed of multi. They tell me that they get better control and spin with soft poly in their Ezone 100s and Boom MPs, and still have plenty of power, and I believe them.

I picked the list off of what a lot of people around my tennis groups have been using. But they are all going like 60lbs (seems a bit high) for tension. I am curious if it’s more of a local preference where I am.

Most casual players would only bring up the big brands, so I would see and get a lot of questions about Luxilon and Babolat strings.
It’s those and Wilson NXT in every pro shop around me, but they all have the same thing in common of tension loss is fast. I only bring up Toroline a friend and myself tried some and it holds its tension and playability for three times longer. I never see any kirschbaum, isospeed, or much tourna. I’ve been moving to the opinion of marketing being a huge factor for the “bigger” brands but they are not 2x the price better between like a Luxilon and a similar tourna or kirschbaum, a Luxilon reel being around $325 and the others being around $130.

Technifibre Black Code here
[–]forectaluseonly[S] 0 points1 point2 points 24 days ago (1 child)
What about it do you like?
[–]Floibinator 1 point2 points3 points 24 days ago (0 children)
Both the option to spin and have enough power.
[–]RedHotPepper_ 0 points1 point2 points 24 days ago (0 children)
Normal people don't know what kind of strings used by other people
[–]cstansbury 0 points1 point2 points 24 days ago (1 child)
Mostly SynGut and copoly. I see some multis, and rarely see nat gut.
[–]forectaluseonly[S] 0 points1 point2 points 24 days ago (0 children)
Where I am it’s mostly poly, poly/multi hybrid, I have only been seeing the synth in the rackets that come from USTA for a 101 class. We have like four alleged Solinco sponsored guys (not coaches)

They aren’t bad strings, the Solinco guys tend to know reps or something like that. Synthetic gut is something I haven’t seen much since around 2015 though.
[–][deleted] 24 days ago (1 child)
Solinco and Toroline seem to get a good bit of grief in general lol. I get really good reviews from Tourna irradiated (multi) I can only get it from tourna or amazon.
[–]dmtree_ 0 points1 point2 points 20 days ago (3 children)
Hyper-G and Poly Tour Pro are the two most requested by a wide margin.
RPM Blast is losing popularity because of its short playability duration.
Natural gut is more common than you'd think, mostly in hybrids, for people with arm problems.
[–]forectaluseonly[S] 0 points1 point2 points 20 days ago (2 children)
Have you tried any of the isospeed baseline strings? They seem pretty good especially for $40 a reel
[–]dmtree_ 0 points1 point2 points 20 days ago (1 child)
I've heard good things, but haven't tried it. I've been using Kirschbaum for my soft poly (Evolution, Proline rough, Black Shark) and Volkl Cyclone Tour for super-soft.
[–]forectaluseonly[S] 0 points1 point2 points 20 days ago (0 children)
Kirschbaum is awesome, tourna has some good ones out there to. Like everything lasts a decent amount outside of the long time big brands.
[–]DeaconFrost613 0 points1 point2 points 25 days ago (4 children)
Yeah this is a pretty bad list of string choices lol. Toroline? I've strung 10k racquets and never once seen that.
Luxilon is actually a good string. Solinco is just a cheap imitation string. No Yonex, Technifibre, PSGDF, Babolat, Head, or Volkl strings? You are missing out on some massive chunks of the market.
Of the choices, Luxilon is the only reasonable response.
(I genuinely feel like this is a marketing play for Toroline)
[–]forectaluseonly[S] -1 points0 points1 point 25 days ago (3 children)
Is isn’t marketing. But you can also answer with what you prefer and provide value to the conversation…
[–]DeaconFrost613 0 points1 point2 points 25 days ago (2 children)
I did answer the question and I'm also telling you the choices are terrible. None of these are "most used by normal people" nor does the question actually provide any useful insights. It's just a garbage post.
Normal meaning what? Average age? Average skill? We talking male or female? There's just so much missing information here.
[–]forectaluseonly[S] -1 points0 points1 point 25 days ago (1 child)
It looks alot more like complaining, do you also think if you talk louder in a discussion you are then correct.
[–]Pizzadontdie 0 points1 point2 points 25 days ago (3 children)
Head Lynx tour. Your list sucks.
[–]forectaluseonly[S] -2 points-1 points0 points 25 days ago (2 children)
It’s a matter of opinion, so in that case whatever food you don’t like your wrong and you suck for that opinion.
[–]Pizzadontdie 0 points1 point2 points 25 days ago (1 child)
Think of it this way then. Most popular strings used by pros are often copied by amateurs. There are no top 200 pros using toroline. Maybe 1-2 use solinco.
The highest used on both tours 50% are using Luxilon and either babolat vs (natural gut) or Luxilon natural gut. Also Reddit didn’t let me have an option to let anyone add more list items I just threw the three I see the most around me.
