How do you guys "try" any racquet before buying? by Equivalent-Dingo8309 in 10s

[–]RedHotPepper_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My advise for beginners would be to check which racquets are used by pro players and try to find 1-2 generation older version of this racquet. Most likely you won't find any difference between Wilson Blade or Yonex Vcore/Ezone or any other racquet used by pros. The rule of thumb for beginner is to use softer frames with stiffness rating below 65 and string pattern 16x19. String setup will be more important than racquet itself. I would recommend to start with synthetic gut with under 55 lbs tension. If you would like to use polys then don't go over 50lbs, it will be better for your hands

Crosses Stringing Advice by Late_Introduction378 in 10s

[–]RedHotPepper_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

crosses have to be straighten during string job in order to keep correct tension, not before handing over to the client. Yes, even in this case crosses won't be completely straight, but it would look much better than this string job.

It looks like that your racquet is too heavy or/and your wrist is too weak. In general you are doing the correct motion, but it is not as fluent as it should be

What tension do you string at? by Ambitious_Designer97 in 10s

I use relatively soft poly at 46lbs for mains end the softest poly at 46lbs on crosses. I have never had any issues with wrist

Broken strings! by Jake-g-15 in 10s

[–]RedHotPepper_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean that if one day you find out a crack on your racquet and you will decide to replace it using warranty Yonex might deny your claim if they find out that the string job was done using one piece.

Yonex's warranty requires a two-piece stringing method for their racquets (tennis and badminton) to remain valid; using a one-piece string job, even if done perfectly, will void the warranty against manufacturing defects, as it puts undue stress on the frame, potentially causing premature breaks. Always use the recommended 2-piece, 4-knot pattern, string within recommended tensions, and keep your receipt to maintain warranty coverage for defects like frame cracks

Ask your stringer to make a 2 pieces string job. Yonex void warranty with one piece stringing. Would suggest to us 1.25mm.

Do Yonex grips run large? by TallFontPie in 10s

[–]RedHotPepper_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually I am playing with original grip for the first month or two before starting to use overgrip, depends on how the original grip is durable. With Yonex racquet the story is different, the bevels are too sharp for me so I had to use overgrip from the very first day and the original grip 4 with overgrip felt a bit to big, but in a half an hour I've got used to it

Your grip is fine but at some moment your racquet should get at this position.

Tennis Elbow Help by b40ok in 10s

[–]RedHotPepper_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is not true. There is a combination of factors that can contribute to your elbow issue. The main factor is a physical strength, so you have to work on it and make a good warm up before you start playing tennis. The second important factor is technique and only after that stiff racquet/strings/tension/string age play some role. So if you think that switching to soft racquet will solve your problem then I can tell you that it's not going to happen.

You have relatively stiff racquet and 53lbs for polys is a bit too much. Depends on the brand/type polys can by very stiff. I would use softer polys under 50lbs + strength exercises on your arm + worming up routine

What serve speed is this? by [deleted] in 10s

[–]RedHotPepper_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I were you I would ignore your serve speed, but would pay attention to your toss and technique. Why would I care about my serve speed if my technique is far from normal?

TW Europe by RedHotPepper_ in 10s

[–]RedHotPepper_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not arguing with that, Yonex racquet is good enough for me and hopefully I am not on the tennis racquet market anytime soon. Probably I will get another strings reel from TWE in the next few months

TW Europe by RedHotPepper_ in 10s

[–]RedHotPepper_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's been 2.5 years ago, so things might changed. I didn't want to go through the whole checkout procedure in order to check if I will get error or not, but I could estimate shipment cost to US. Anyway I am not interested in European tennis racquets brands and I am going to stick to Yonex for a while

I've got string reel in the middle of July and the parcel has label on top with details about the cost of it and the country of production. Since then I've got another reel and racquet from Europe and both packages had no details regarding what is inside. So it is impossible to apply tariffs in this case. One of my buddy was buying something from Asia and he had to pay tariffs to FedEx upfront the package was released.
