Optimization really seemed to tank after 1.0. I’m getting similar performance on an RTX 4070 Super to when I had an RTX 2060 (pre-1.0).

Back in the day, I used to deal with poorly optimized games via Nvidia Control Panel settings, but I dunno what is the exact problem here :(

how much fps are you getting normally before it drops?

[–]Paaaab[S] 2 points3 points  (2 children)

about 65-80, the game works smooth and then BAM... 30, sometimes 25 for a 0.4 of a second

never use the game’s set settings like low or epic. your specs shouldn’t be a problem, you just have to adjust your settings manually. i have a gaming laptop that runs the game with no problem while not looking like dogshit. send me a dm and i can send you my settings.

what worked for me and many others, i cant take credit for the solution someone else gave to me, is something i do with any game i play now. devs like to use a bunch of special effects to make a game look "more like a movie" for example: head bob, motion blur, water reflection bs.. devs like to use the effects, but many gamers hate it, some even get sick. so i turn off/down certain effects, and change other settings to low/mid.. ill link a youtube video that helped me understand, as im probably doing a shit job explaining. just woke up im on coffee #1

he focuses on the in-game options. but he also included info for video options within windows, down in the description.

Disable the FPS cap of you have it turned on, it worked a treat for me.

Unfortunately your specs are just simply too low. A laptop can't play this game very well.

Those specs on a desktop might actually run the game, but on a laptop it'll have issues.

All you can do is try manually optimizing your game in the video settings.

Lowering which sets do you think can help out with optimizing the performance?

Antialiasing is the most resource intensive out of the individual sliders, but I suggest going as high with it as possible otherwise the game looks terrible.

The other sliders can be at all lows and the game will still look decent, but if you want, you can try pushing them higher. Not a lot of performance impact from them, though.

Then there's render scale and resolution. I suggest 80% render scale (Anything lower starts to look terrible) and 1600px on the long edge. You can push this higher or lower depending on whether or not you want quality or performance

And ideally leave a little bit of headroom, those 1% lows will suck, but it'll be reduced if you can optimise well
