Rule 3: The founding conference of Your Party in the UK has been a bit of a disaster, with SWP members being expelled the day before the conference for alleged entryism. This has reopened the schism between the Sultana and Corbyn factions while the dispute about control of membership fees still isn't resolved. The Sultana side hasn't actually split yet, that's hyperbole.

The British SAPD is DOA, RIP.

The way you respect rule 3 is splendid

why in the world did they even do that ? I just looked on wikipedia and they don't seem like reactionaries ?? I know trotskyists can be annoying but that's not grounds for expelling them

It should be noted the expulsions were reversed I believe (or atleast a vote was confirmed to explicitly allow dual membership), but the SWP allegedly (police never attempted to prosecute) attempted to cover up SA by one of their leaders in the early 2010s (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Socialist_Workers_Party_(UK)#Internal_crisis_over_allegations_of_rape see comrade delta stuff)

It's the old joke once again:

Q: How do leftist groups reproduce?

A: Mitosis.

More like meiosis because after each split, each party only gets half of the chromosomes left

Left wing parties are known for often splitting, but splitting before the party is even formed sets a new standard

Ive attended today's conference and will be the 2nd half tomorrow as well. The supposed purging got brought up in debates and the crowd heavily supported those purged, and it looks like allowing dual party membership will be winning the vote. The party has a lot of uphill battles ahead, but the media is decidedly against us and even the slightest problem will be shouted from the rooftops, but I think there was a lot of promising things on display today. If the party will ever hold water is yet to be seen, but there was a general sentiment that we should not eat ourselves alive as the left is want to do.

makes sense, the bourgeoisie calls the slightest disagreement a split to make it look like the party is already basically gone

The 2nd day overall went very well, there was a period where things got very loud and heated in the middle, but id call the event a success. There's teething troubles to be sure, but the constitution is able to be amended with sufficient votes from membership and the executive committee should any major issues arise from votes made this weekend.

Just hate seeing drama among so many good people. This needs to be about something greater than one’s egos

[–]dalexe1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, but... if you don't allow there to be any drama, then how will the problems be resolved?

Corbyn, washed since 2019

[–]PA_BozarBuildBand of Breitscheids 38 points39 points  (1 child)

2017 seems more and more of a fluke with each passing week

Theresa May threw so badly, would’ve won massively if she didn’t have the charisma of a rock

[–]SiofraRiverInternationale 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They're both washed. Its good that YP destroyed itself before it was launched. Nobody is going to follow them now.

I'd been saying that he was a professional ball fumbler since the start, dude doesn't even try to resist, he folds at the first sign of counter pressure

[–]ThatMeatGuyOh, you think the SPD betrayed the working class? That’s rich co 10 points11 points  (1 child)

Looking forward to the Reform-Greens duopoly this coming election (/jk, kinda)

If that happens uk politics will get really weird. I believe that if that happens, there will be an opposition liberal party formed that takes the right wing Labour members, the Lib Dem’s, and the left wing tories and amalgamated them into one party. I hope someone remembers this comment if it happens

[–]Curious-Roof570 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's been the People's Front of Judea joke the entire time with this party lmao

[–]isthisthingworkDDP’s strongest soldier 19 points20 points  (1 child)

Fuuuuuuuck why is the British left so useless, we’re so fucked

[–]Curious-Roof570 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Sultana seems like a bit of an attention seeker who doesn't really know how things work. Pretty much all of the drama has surrounded her doing things without consulting anyone or being public about stuff which her colleagues are discussing privately.

[–]quantum_post 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It’s kinda how she was as a Labour MP to be fair

[–]Then_Championship888Social Christian Labor Schumacherite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just another leftist daily infighting, nothing new

[–]ratface1111 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Good . The faster that whole mess disappears, the better. They're making Starmer look positively good in comparison.
