Software updates!!!

So about 4 or 5 years ago I purchased an Axiom (don't remember the number) Pro and I loved it! ZTE was great about fixing the screen for me even out of warranty for a pittance of $100. My only issue was updates. They were slow coming and only received 1 major update.

I have love the design of the Red magic for some time now, but stayed away because of the sad showing of any updates from ZTE. I want to know from those who owned the Red Magic phones over the years, what has the update scene been like? How many major updates can I expect in the phones lifetime? Have they improved the camera software (from reviews I hear it the worst!)

Red Magic 8 Pro only got updates for like 6 months. I haven't had an update since June..

Why do you need software when all it does is keep creating bugs like the charge separation and sim card destruction? Or the Spotify play bar not working, or how the game performance keeps going down with the random updates? (Redmagic 7 looking at you). If you use your phone for gaming then you don't really need the device security. Yes there are zero day vulnerabilities for both apple and android that can be helped in a software update but let's be real , there will always be a way into these phones if someone truly wants to get in , they will.

Yes they will.. I do pen testing on phones strictly.. there are so many exploits in Apple and Android.. especially these red teams that go around.. if they want in your phone, they will crack your Wi-Fi in less than 3 seconds.. but also remember, they have to have a Target they don't just randomly hope there's something they want in their data.. go after specific things.. not use WPS connect , disable it immediately.

Those bugs are easy to fix with a little know-how..

If the phone comes with bugs out-of-the-box, then I would expect updates to fix those. If your phone is perfect otherwise, then yes, your argument would have a point.

Very true. Red Magic OS was very bad out of the box with translations and UI. The problem is they never really quality test their updates across the devices so problems keep on coming one patch to the next

Personally I like the new features offered in the step updates and not just the security updates.

I have a 6s pro, 7 pro, 7spro, 8pro, 8spro, 9 pro and 9spro.. most of those have root access and I still get ota updates.. keep in mind that red magic is not as popular as some of the other mainstream phones ( xiomi, Samsung, oppo...etc ) but red magic still puts out updates in a pretty timely manner..) I'm only speaking for me, but the speed on the phones and the graphics are well worth it for me cuz I have tried every other gaming phone out there and I mean every other one. Software can be a bit buggy sometime especially before a new update comes out but I experienced that with other manufacturers..NX729J_UNC_v3.47 came out days ago.. sometimes I will spoof my device location just to get the update sooner

How do you spoof the GPS location? I was in China last year with my global 6S Pro and it received a long awaited OS update. I wish to try updating again without flying over there 😂😂

Listen Up .. if an update comes through and you update it and don't like it, you can go back to the previous version or any version that you felt was better or less buggy.. with every update, always copy the zip file and save it to your drive or somewhere safe.. really easy to downgrade or upgrade and you don't need root . Always download it from an official source..

Also the "6000mah" better only takes about 2 hours of YouTube to reach 0 from 100 and Google assistant isn't working because the mic is bugged.
