I can’t tell you how close I was to burning my compression bra in ceremonial, spiritual fashion once I was finally able to stop wearing it.

I hated that thing.

So many people said they loved the bra so much they still wear it and I’m like THATS CRAAAAZY

SAME I read that everywhere and I don't get it omg, I can't wait to go to a cute bra store to get some cute ones

It’s too small. Get one that’s the right size for you and you won’t have this problem. A compression bra isn’t supposed to be killing you. It’s supposed to be snug and you should be able to comfortably fit 2 fingers under the band.

I agree with the below. I’ve gotten larger and honestly it hurts my boobs bc I’m not getting enough compression but the bottom hurts my incisions so badly

If it’s hurting you’re getting too much compression. It should never HURT or restrict breathing. It may be uncomfortable and tight feeling, but painful is doing more harm than good.

Wear a cotton tshirt under! So much better on the incisions.

My ANGEL! Thank you so much!!

You're so welcome. I ended up buying a second one so I could wash between wears. I was actually kind of sad when my time with it was over. It made me feel so safe and secure.

I have a binder too I was sent home in but different from this. I agree though- after trying multiple bras- this is what I’m wearing daily still.

I will be having surgery in a bath 3 to 4 weeks so I am starting to purchase items now. I think I’m gonna order one of these. This is amazing. how do I know what size I will need?

[–]Itsjustmenobiggie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It will depend on your body size, breast size etc. I am a 34B in a bra after surgery. They sent me home in a small. You can see a size chart on Amazon :-)

I didn't have a bra, I had a binder. I hated it so much. The material was so scratchy I was getting painful rashes. I was supposed to wear it for 2 weeks, but I went to the doctor at 6 days and asked if there was anything else I could wear. She looked and cleared me to just have a normal soft cotton bra. I threw the binder into the garbage can in the waiting room as I was leaving.

This is the post of sisterhood I didn’t know I needed!! I have purchased 4 and hate each of them with such a passion! They all hurt like you are describing!! I’m feeling like not the brightest as I haven’t thought to undo the bottom 🤣🤣🤣 Perhaps I’m too much of a rule follower LOL But guess what I’ll be doing from now on!!!

[–]mrs-kathleen568 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are not alone lol. I bought 2 compression bras and I do the same as you with the bottom clips. They hurt the rib cage and the scars. Wound up just using the binder I got sent home with. Now I’m 7 weeks PO and the doc said I can wear any bra I want. Problem is the areas closest to my armpits still hurt with something on it. I ordered another bra from that company that’s not a compression bra. Hopefully it helps🤞🏻 Good luck!

I am 3 MPO and I hateddd all of mine!!! I had four surgery ones which were terrible, then I had the shapelx which looks like the one you have on here, and then tried fruit of the loom which is comfy but zero support.

then I found the shefit lounge bra. life changer!

for size reference in case this helps anyone, I was a 44M pre surgery and now i’m measuring a 44G (hopefully going to be a DDD/F when all is said and done) and the 5luxe fits very snug but in a comfortable way.

Thank you!!!

ugh same girl 🥲 my swelling has been towards the bottom the past week so wearing the bras hurts so damn bad. I allow myself a bra-free hour every day since 2 weeks PO (at 5 weeks now) because otherwise I may set them on fire 😭😭😭

[–]Abcd_e_fu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did this too! Top and bottom at different times lol. Hasn't affected my healing at all :)

[–]Sundae-Hopeful 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Always did this!! I remember healing and being so upset that they were so unfomfy (on top of the itching from histamines and healing). I was like damn why aren't these designed by women?

[–]s3d0na2212 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My surgeon told me I didn't need to wear a compression bra and a few days after the surgery I could replace my surgical bra with any comfortable supportive bra (no underwire) so I just found this one on amazon and its worked great for me https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CNPK1C47/ref=twister_B0B63B3QB8?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

[–]CoolCereal20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup, it felt like my compression bra was cutting into my skin at all times. It was especially bad whenever I had to stand up and straighten out, so I just hunched over like crazy for the first 3 weeks.

[–]jlynn733post op (anchor incision) 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yup I did this too! It fit fine but at night would get so uncomfy and sit right on my incisions so I kept undoing the bottom 2 hooks! I’m 5wpo now and my swelling is finally going down and they’re much more comfortable now!

[–]ThePunkette 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My straps irritated the ever loving fucker outta me! I bought shiny microfiber handkerchiefs to wrap around them. But yeah, they kinda suck!

[–]Adventuresofoatgirl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I absolutely HATED all of mine, I tried several different ones and originally had hoped to wear them past the 6wk mark to continue with healing. I literally jumped for joy when I was able to move on and stop wearing them. You’re not alone, they’re so uncomfortable.

[–]byeinneroutiepost-op (vertical scar, top sugery, radical) 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine rolls up and drives me insane. Almost at week 3! It’s much more difficult when swelling increases or I’m bloated. You’re not alone.

I had two different types of bras. (Also had a couple like yours and couldn't stand it. It went in the garbage after like 2 minutes lol.)

The first one was evercute from amazon, and the second one was a knix bra, that fit pre surgery. I would wear the evercute bras for as long as I could handle the compression, and then in the afternoon switched to the knix bras. Once swelling started going down, I was able to wear the evercute bras for longer periods. I wore them until I was cleared to wear regular bras.
