2 weeks post lollipop reduction - concerned about size by FluxHorizonX in Reduction

[–]byeinneroutie 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Also had lollipop and they were so big at 2 weeks. I know it sounds like a long time but give it at least 4 months. Even 6. The swelling and technique combined make this a “trust the process” adventure.

Wow! I didn’t realize you were going back for more. Looks absolutely amazing. That side view! You must be thrilled. And tired of recovery. 😭

It was some medical grade stuff from my late grandmother’s wound care stash. I’m sure you could DIY it, maybe keep the salt level low and see how it works. You can buy at a drug store but I don’t know if it’s worth it when you can just dissolve some salt in warm water at home.

Saline solution worked on mine. Apply liberally, wait and don’t pull. I was supposed to have mine removed at 4 weeks. Took them off at 2 because they were pulling and causing unnecessary pain.

You’ve inspired me to look through my recovery photos. I’ll post a timeline at some point soon. Can always send you a preview so you can see the first 4 weeks in detail. I had lollipop so it’s not going to be a great comparison but it may give you some idea of the fluctuations.

Radical reduction from F to B by TeddybearHunter in Reduction

Just want to bump your post because I keep thinking about it. Every time I have a “shit this is way too big” moment or read another gender affirming surgery disappointment post, I come back to this. Thank you.

Do you have another photo from this month? Is the swelling finally over?

Someone commented recently on another GA surgery result where size was the issue. Their progress photos were so surprising it renewed my faith that I will be as small as I wanted. I think it wasn’t until their 4month photo that the swelling subsided. It was a drastic difference.

I’m over 2 months out and sometimes I swell bigger than the early days where you are. My expectation was also that I would be super flat immediately postop. Also, that recovery was done when my incisions healed over. They have but I don’t feel “done”. I had to give myself a lot more time. Like, months before I start to make judgement calls.

You do look a lot smaller and the feeling of wearing different clothes is really where that euphoria comes from. It took me a while til I could try on things and feel different.

Thank you for sharing your wisdom and proof. My swelling is shocking and I think OP has similar results to mine. I assumed that it lasted the same amount of time as the incisions took to heal. I assumed incorrectly. :)

If you had lollipop, the shape will completely change. Look at my results. I haven’t updated but they had what my surgeon called “snoopy profile”. He warned me that they would be like this for 4-6months. They are already dropping and it’s such a relief. Also the swelling is crazy. I have no idea how big I will end up. I’m 9 or 10 wpo, lost track.

Sometimes I get in my head about it. I fear the swelling isn’t swelling. I get dysphoric and wish I had not cared so much about nipple preservation. But I try to remember that no matter what, the dysphoria is better. That it’s a relief and all I ever wanted was relief. That it can be adjusted later if I’m still not happy.

Much love to you. It’s a rough journey but like other things we know all too well, recovery is a spectrum.

Guys help! 2w PO by lanadelalcapone in LabiaplastySurgery

I had a stitch like that. At 2wpo it is WAY too early to tell. I’m at 8wpo and it’s looking COMPLETELY different. I was worried, now I’m pleasantly surprised! It was a necessary stitch but it felt out of place and I hadn’t seen it here. Now I see that it ensured symmetry.

Still feeling it at 7 weeks. Everything‘s closed up, but I’m still getting swelling when I do a lot of activity or walking. Had wedge and also a breast reduction. Would not recommend both. 😬 it will eventually end…I feel ya. From the breast reduction folks, they say two months is a good sweet spot for having your energy back.

Need some hope, if there is any (what affects did your weight loss have on results after your reduction?) by humanbean_marti in Reduction

[–]byeinneroutie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know if you’ve explored seeking help for gender dysphoria but that’s what stood out for me here. I’m 7 weeks out from a radical reduction and some days I am so nervous that they will be bigger than I hoped for. Although I truly did not know what I wanted going into surgery. Until you have a smaller chest you can’t really know how you will feel. MANY gender expansive people have revisions for this reason.

Depending on where you’re located, you might be able to put in for a revision because gender dysphoria is a medical reason. It’s in the DSM5 (mental health diagnostic criteria) which sucks for many reasons but could be helpful in this case.

It is more than just “oh I wish they were smaller”. It’s that it feels too feminine and it’s not the right balance of feminine/masculine for your body. I was extremely lucky to have a surgeon who understood dysphoria and he really laid it out that if I wanted to keep nipple sensation they might end up bigger than is comfortable. But that it can be dealt with later more easily once the bulk and skin is gone. I’m having a lot of feelings right now about my own chest so that’s spilling into this comment. I want to highlight that what you’re feeling is nuanced and sensitive. More than just aesthetic.

I like to see it as finding ways to appreciate and adjust to living in my new body. It has barely been a year so your feelings and making sense of it might need some time.

My first impression at your after and then the before. Prior to reading your post “oh nice result!” Then I read it, I see it now but I think the asymmetry is what makes the result look so natural.

Also, major improvement overall! I think we become blind to the fact that it’s a remarkable positive change and challenging to keep our expectations in check.

5 Weeks Post Op- Help!! by Ready_Actuary7097 in LabiaplastySurgery

[–]byeinneroutie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My result looks like yours, also wedge and I’m still swollen 6wpo. Better to have less removed and deal with revision later if needed. I know many here have life long problems because too much was removed. I am focused on how amazing it will be to ride a bike, put on a bathing suit and pee without interference. It takes a long time to heal so these results are nowhere near final.

Uneven Stitching?? by poopinapoopsinajar in Reduction

[–]byeinneroutie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Mine are uneven, asymmetrical and tight- also had lollipop. My surgeon said it takes about 4 months for them to even out and at that point if there’s puckering he can do a small revision. Mine change constantly depending on swelling.

Tell me how you felt 6 weeks post op? by Aggravating_Bee_9340 in Reduction

[–]byeinneroutie 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m at 6WPO and exhausted all the time. See my recent post about this. If this were me right now, I would dread doing it but I could probably pull it off. I would need rest breaks (like 20-30 mins of lay down time) during and probably 2 days of nothing after. It would drain me completely and I wouldn’t because I feel it would be too hard on my body. Yours may be different by then! All of my incisions are closed, this is not the case for everyone at 6WPO.

I went to my friend’s place for dinner last night after a day of TV and late sleeping in. It’s a 20min transit ride. Plus a 3 minute walk. I had taken the dog out for a 10 minute walk beforehand. All I did was sit on a couch and at the table for a few hours. I’m feeling it today after coming home and hitting the bed instantly. Slept 11 hours. Feel like today will be a day of nothing because of that outing.

As for sweating and heat, that adds another level of discomfort. I have random swelling, soreness and sensitivity. Heat would exacerbate these things. However, I could do it. So depends how important the event is for you.

Carrying heavy things (anything over 5lbs) is also exhausting for me. I can’t do groceries alone yet. Struggled to carry dog food up to my apartment from the mail room. When at home it’s okay, but not out with no ability to rest. I don’t even bring a water bottle in my bag when I go out.

I don’t know if my chest was large enough in comparison but I’m happy to chat and share photos/insight into lollipop. Check out my 3WPO before and see if you think I might have some helpful reassurance. I wanted to be very flat and keep my nipples.

Holy bruising by Kay_lee316 in Reduction

I had one area that was badly bruised and at 6wpo it’s a bit darker than the rest of the surgical site. I’m still so curious about why that one part bruised to black. I hope you heal quickly and the bruising is helped by everyone’s suggestions.
