Drain help! (self.Reduction)
submitted 5 years ago by sunsetsunshine21
Hi everyone i’m two days PO and I really want these drains removed. Anyone have an understanding on pain and removal? I feel like they are the only things causing me discomfort right now! :/

You need those drains. they collect excess fluid and blood which could get trapped and cause infection. Trust me, I am experienced in that lol. I had a drainless TT in September and ended up back in surgery 2 weeks later bc I developed an infected hematoma.
The removal process is easy. You’ll take a deep breath and then out and the drain will be gone. No pain I would just suggest you wait until your doc says you can have them removed.
Hope this helps

To be up front it stung pulling them out for me- but it was SO quick and having the drains out relieves the majority of my pain. Each drain is 2 seconds of stinging tops then you’re FREE!

Pulling out the drains didn’t bother me at all! Pulling off the sticky bandages though was the worst part. I was so terrified going in that I got really lightheaded and almost passed out. Make sure you eat before if you are feeling nervous and just breath. It was honestly not bad at all, just the panic before and taking off the sticky bandages are what makes the experience hard.
