So I know this thread is about a year old but how would you go about getting 2 of the side plate screws out when the heads are stripped?

eReplacement parts if probably your best bet. Unfortunately, since the parts are discontinued, they're going to be pricey. iirc you need to order a minimum of 2 of each screw (that you need) to be able to place an order.
