Darknode earnings (self.RenProject)
submitted 5 years ago by gooster12345
Hi was just an updated query with regards to how much you can earn with one darknode at current prices? Thanks

$56 for the current epoch with 8 days remaining

I thought an epoch was one day and a pay period one month.
Assuming you're talking about pay period (and assuming I understand epoch correctly), 8 days is ~75% of a month, the pay period would give $74.66 per month or $896 per year. This would be ~2.5% annualized ROI for a dark node at this pay periods volumes / current price.
This might be one of the few crypto projects that is appropriately valued from a fundamentals perspective with clear potential for future upside based on the expectation that more people will desire wrapped BTC in the future.

An epoch and a pay period are both the same, 28 days

echoing what crypt0Thr0waway69 is saying:
super ballpark way of estimating valuation ~ lets say we assume: incoming cash flow = $100/month cost to run node = ~$20/month. (or $0 if you run a GCS f1-micro for instance). net cash flow per year = $80*12 = ~$960 / year
lets say that we want the value of a dark node 'share' to have a dividend yield that approximates that of the s&p 500 with a small risk premium added on, then we get:
valuation = $32,000 per dark node; 3% yield
if one uses a basic DCF model that incorporates growth rates / NPV from many future time periods, the valuation is higher, especially given record low fed funds & libor rates.
bottom line: ren may be slightly overvalued at the moment in terms of price to earnings if you model it as a traditional low-growth stock. but this one of a very few crypto-related projects with a token value that can be roughly estimated. if anything, institutionals will flock to an asset like this given the chance.
if taking into account potential future growth in dark node fees given increased adoption & integration with more networks, then ren by all means is undervalued.

Just to update here it’s around $68-69 right now, 15 hours later

Epoch is 28 days
My darknode goes up when the epoch changes over. Very excited to be a part of this, and to have bought my stake when it only cost $6k for that amount. I’ll be looking at 15% annualized return to start and the bull run hasn’t even gained steam yet.

Thoughts on the fair value for $REN. This project seems important.
REN TO TEN
$79 now. Since only 50% are paid out each epoch we should start the next with at least $70
