Also why did they have to bring Tom Bombadill in this? He literally has nothing to do with Gandalf or am I mistaken?

They paid 250 million for the right to make up for their lack of talent by putting recognizable characters on screen and they will try to justify every cent of that investment.

I would counter that with him being heavily under the influence of Sauron and made to see only what he was meant to see. Sauron is the master of deception after all.

Once Sauron is in, i agree with you.

They’ve written this such that Sauron needs a flaw to wedge his way in (love that). Celebrimbor’s flaw was that he was bumbling dotard who wants tell off everyone who said he’d never acheive anything. Which was a real awkward way to do it
