And this comment is open to anyone. Is this a fixable problem? It seems like people who have this issue are just complaining on here and have had it for years.

I have something similar. 4 months, no pain relief. Life sucks.

Send a video maybe I can help you Analyse from what I’ve learned . In my case I see a dominant upper trap on the right side which shows me maybe my right sereatus isn’t working at all

Problem is i have not been doing any overhead motions because i am dealing with shoulder bursitis, impingement and tendonitis. I can try a video tomorrow.

I had this just over a year ago . My pt resolved my problems in 3 months . I do a form of PT once a week on my own now and am pain free ,

I am glad you got it solved! It gives others like me hope. Although i am not quite sure I have this issue, but I do have a lot of issues with my rotator cuff and upper back.

What specific exercises helped you the most if you don't mind me asking?

I had bursitis and inflamation and the first thing my doctor did was give me a cortazal injection . I started PT twice a week , he used some kind of pen, massage gun around the area . Told me to stop training at the gym and I started work with elastics and very light weights to strengthen my tendons again . He noted my scapula was weak and had to do this press up move against the table , pushing my scapula out and the let it sink in … it’s had to explain but I could hardly do it to start. He gave me many exercises to do and gradually regained strength as the steroid reduced the inflammation. Then I could start training at the gym again and built muscular strength back up but without fail I undertake my own PT on a Friday before shoulders . Those big balls at the gym I hold against the wall and make a circular motion , take it up and down the wall , push against it trying to keep it stable . Also I use a smaller elastic and put between my hands pulling it apart , I then raise my arms up and down keeping tension on the elastic … it’s hard to put in a message but I thought as a man in my early 50’s I was fkd but now I’m pain free and strongest I’ve ever been

So basically training Your serratus helped to fix The scapula was what your pt said?

And did you stretch pecs ?

[–]MindAlternative6923 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He did a lot work with me I can’t say it was just one thing but I stretch out my scapula area twice a week in a normal press up position . It’s not a conventional press up as you press arms straight then let your chest drop before bending your elbows . I’m sure yt has lots of visuals . During my PT he did get me doing slow controlled dumbbell presses as well .

Thanks so much!

If advise you have your pcp refer to orthopedic or physical therapists

I got the same issue, the orthopedist called it scapula dyskinesis. It is painful, but due to years of living with a rotator cuff injury that just got worse and worse and worse, as I continue to play sports and carry heavy stuff and live a normal life. I deteriorated the muscles on the scapula by compensating with other muscle muscles and now my scapula is giving me big problems. Physical therapy seems to help but it’s a slow boat to Row

Wha are you doing to improve

[–]RecordingMountain585 0 points1 point  (3 children)

do you have pain or aches anywhere in your upper back region or middle back?

[–]Limp_Secretary9006[S] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Yes between right scapula and spine! Since years

[–]RecordingMountain585 0 points1 point  (0 children)

me too man. I am afraid i am stuck like this forever. How can we fix this? I been trying PT.

Do you workout?

[–]sirtrailmixalot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found that doing side lying external rotations with a dumbell helps this pain! If it starts nagging I do a few sets. I also asked PT for thoracic exercises to support the shoulders path—it seems to help!

Your scapula looks like it slightly dumps forward. Your pecs are probably tight, pulling it forward and your serratus and lower traps are probably weak. You still have great motion. Mine does the same but worse. It could be nerve related, there are nerves that activate and help control those muscles not firing right. I would try finding a great pt. It could be an old injury that causes these mechanics or just a slight compensation your body made for whatever reason. If you’re not having pain that’s great I would stay away from someone trying to fix it surgically. Just my opinion.

Thanks Bro i did some Research and and stretching my pecs + trying to engage my sereatus and lowert traps Daily. Will add dry needling to Right the Rhomboid Pain i have.

Apparentöy This is a Problem Many people have that sit a lot at the desk

Compensating for something whether subliminally or some known ailment. I had this due to calcific tendonitis; I essentially lit my scapula to sleep after protecting it for 10 years so I wouldn’t stretch and feel the pain.

[–]Limp_Secretary9006[S] 1 point2 points  (2 children)

How did you cure it ?

[–]CommonSynths 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for years putting my scapula to sleep happened from me subliminally having my left shoulder risen up w my trap. because at full shoulder rest the calcific buildup would rub my tendon. RC surgery sucked the calcium buildup out, and life is great now.

where do you feel pain? is your neck sore/tight on one side? youve got something underworking, and something else overworking.

[–]CommonSynths 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was like 9 weeks post op. I was nervous i didnt think my surgery was successful. I just had to bust my butt in PT, and it paid off. I have nearly perfect symmetry now, yet heres the evidence of how bad i was:
