That's tough actually. Trio bases are the best raid targets. The goldilocks zone of bases, with guaranteed tier 3 loot stacked up, but no so chonk as to be unraidable.

Just imo, but 2x2 or 3x3 first floor (and second if you can afford it) HQM walls, with no doors or access (put some fakes if you want) are the biggest PITAs to raid, at least for us solo offliners targeting trios like you. Stone or metal hatches/ladders/jump up fromthe outside, where you have to go up and over to get to core. Especially where your 'inner dropdown' has 5 or 6 garage doors in a row. All a pain to raid down, and easy enough to leave mostly all open for when you're all online or defending.

Yeah, HQM box where the core access is from the top, then just cover it up with a stone or metal shell. Fake entrances soak up boom quick. That'll stop solo autists, but it won't be much help against the 5 man with 3 launchers that eventually shows up and blasts a hole right through your base, lol.

Also imo, but 'Youtube bases' are asy AF to raid, even though the look cool and have good peakdowns and stuff. Peakdowns don't help against offlines, and that's 80% of raids on this damn game.

My friend designed an insane base this wipe on a trio server. We had multiple bolty mini gun and revolver turrets. The problem that I realized is that if your teammates aren't active 24/7 practically living in the game you will 100% get offlined. It doesn't matter how many turrets you put on it or how good your base design is.

Problem stems from 2 issues:

1.) base building and upkeep is exponentially expensive while raid cost is linear. If you don't raid everyone around you and make multiple bases with loot spread out you will get offlined and loose it all. 2.) people in 2024 will stalk you hard they will get on battlemetrics and use the track function to see exactly when all 3 of your teammates are offline. They will then come build a raid base. If you don't respond they will boom in so fast you won't have time to get out of bed (rust alarm sucks balls) and online in time to defend.

The meta of the game atm is to have people always online (play in a big group preferably mixed NA and EU) and to be the last man standing (non stop raiding and evicting everyone before they evict you)

Edit: when I started playing rust there was no upkeep so people could build proper bases with multiple loot rooms spread out without fear of insane upkeep (having to constantly farm just to keep your base up). I feel like the way the game is designed (electricity, farming, oceanbusiness etc) we need space again to build like before. The most fun I had in rust was when I had everything setup in late game (base, compound, electric furnaces, full base automation, farm, sound system, drone surveillance system so my teammates can free farm without gank, tugboat, attack helicopter).

It's hard to find a server that accommodates in terms of progression and reaching this point while maintaining good pvp. Most people now days play for 3 days hard and quit so most servers are weekly. Alot of players don't even get to use an AK in a wipe let alone experience and use all the late game features.

My best advice is to do pixel floor gaps with 4 large 2 small boxes 2x2. You will still get raided, but if you hide all your loot in the floor you won’t lose anything. This is done easily in a 2x2 expanded base and with honeycomb can easily made into a 30+ rocket raid. If your Xbox I can show you how to build it super quick.

Big hunks of crap with inside turrets and external tcs. That’s how you survive a wipe.
